New Trial Site in Kentucky
The DLF-Trifolium staff has moved to Kentucky and established a trial site in the area known as “the inner bluegrass” - an area with rolling green hillsides and the home of some of the finest thoroughbred horse farms in the country. The first scores are made, and this coming spring, as the new foals are taking their first bite of grass, we will be harvesting and measuring the yield of our first trial. Read more click here

Breeding of Dark-Green Turf Varieties
Dark-green turf varieties have often shown benefits under heat-stress conditions.
Older, dark-green varieties are lacking density and fineness of leaves compared to medium-green, European material.
Breeding efforts by DLF-TRIFOLIUM have created new varieties and breeding material combining quality with stress tolerance.

New Products for New Zealand and Australia
DLF-SEEDS has established several forage trials of new varieties and new breeding material in New Zealand and Australia. The first harvest with measurement of Winter growth is taking place right now. Species tested are Annual and Italian ryegrass, Hybrid and Perennial ryegrass, Festuloliums, Tall fescues, Cocksfoot and White clover.
The harvest takes place with our Haldrup machinery in a very accurate way. The first results are most promising, proving that our breeding is able to make varieties suitable for this part of the world also.
Record Number of new Varieties Launched Again
Last year DLF-TRIFOLIUM was able to launch no fewer than 15 brand new varieties – the hi
ghest number ever. These included a range of dark green turf perennials. These varieties will of course be available in considerable quantities this year. On top of this, we are repeating the success this year with another 15 new varieties for which seed is now available. We are fortunate to have all these new varieties, which makes it possible for us, together with our customers, to renew the state of the art in grasses and the benefits thereof.

Increased Nitrogen use Efficiency in Grassses
A new research collaboration between DLF-TRIFOLIUM and KVL (The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University) has been established to ensure the development of grass varieties, which matches still increasing nitrogen use constraints. Plant nutrition has been the research scope for years at KVL and with recent discoveries, the two partners now seek to implement the results into DLF-TRIFOLIUM's grass varieties.

Seed Yield Trials Optimize Competitiveness
A high seed yield is a quality criteria of paramount importance when producing new grass
and clover seeds at DLF-TRIFOLIUM. Thousands of trial plots of Red fescue, Perennial ryegrass, Smooth-stalked meadow grass, Hybrid ryegrass, White clover and Cocksfoot have now been harvested in , and preliminary results show that the standard variety seed yields correspond to the yield obtained in practice. The trials have thus provided valuable information about the seed production potential of new, future varieties allowing DLF-TRIFOLIUM to make the right choice in terms of future seed production.
In connection with the seed yield trials various treatments have been tried out on the crops in view of optimizing the seed yield.
